Dear AISC Community:

I would like to share a final update regarding our search for the new Head of School at AISC which will commence in July 2023.

In February of 2021, we began preparing for a search that would identify AISC’s next Head of School. A committee was formed, a search consultant was hired, and all the key stakeholder groups of AISC were engaged to generate a position profile. Numerous candidates were interviewed, reference checks were carried out, and the finalists were selected.

For the first time at our school, the candidates were presented to the community through a virtual visit. The virtual visit enabled students, parents, staff, and faculty to meet the candidates and provide feedback regarding their potential fit to lead AISC. It also allowed for the candidates to engage with our community and to see how our mission and vision are being lived out.

While the feedback was very positive for both candidates, I am happy to announce there was a clear preference from all stakeholder groups. The Board of Directors was unanimous in their selection of Ms. Leigh Fitzgerald as our Head of School beginning in July 2023, and we are quite pleased to report that Ms. Fitzgerald has accepted the position.

We look forward to welcoming Ms. Fitzgerald, her husband Andrew, and their daughter Nel into our community.  Over the coming year they will be preparing themselves for the move from Hawaii to Chennai. The Board of Directors is very happy to have Ms. Joelle Basnight lead AISC as the interim Head of School during this transition year.  Ms. Fitzgerald and Ms. Basnight will work closely to ensure a smooth transition.

I would like to extend our collective gratitude to Dr. Vladimir Kuskovski who presented such an engaging candidacy to our community. I would also like to thank the members of our community, the staff and faculty, the leadership team, and the committee members for making this process such a success. Over the past year we have had so many people investing their time, providing feedback, facilitating meetings, and making meaningful contributions that have led to this final outcome.  It has been a true community effort.

If you need any further clarification, please do not hesitate to reach out to me at mrobersonaisc@gmail.com

With best wishes on behalf of the AISC Board of Directors,

Michael Roberson
